Forbidden City, Beijing





Explored the Forbidden City today.  It's huge, but it was also packed.  We discovered that the first week of October is known as "Golden Week" and is a national holiday.  Christopher found a poem with 1,000 characters, none repeated.  It has a really cool story behind its creation.  It had been commissioned in one night, the words supplied to the poet by the emperor.  It flows, rhymes, and is lyrical, and is said to have turned the poets hair white, overnight, through the stress of the task.  We did a little antiquing today, and finished of by going to the same restaurant for dinner.  We both want a noodle dish, but we're having trouble getting noodles that aren't in soup...
